The SIRDC, a Research & Development (R & D) and Technology Transfer organization, invites applications from suitably qualified and experienced individuals for the following senior position:
Plant Breeder
Duties and Responsibilities
- Planning and executing plant breeding programmes.
- Providing leadership in the breeding programmes for plant and crops of economic and national importance.
- Conducting field multilocation evaluation tnals.
- Bulking of germplasm for various crops in summer and winter nurseries.
- Analyzing data at the end of each season and present data timeously.
- Leading and motivating staff in the crop and plant breeding programmes.
- Cooperating with farmers, farmer organization and stakeholders in the agriculture industry.
- Preparing written reports and presentations on plant breeding research findings.
- Registration and commercialization of new and improved crop varieties.
- Carrying out any other related duties that Management may assign from time to time.
Qualifications and Experience
Minimum qualification is a Master’s degree in Plant Breeding with a PhD degree being an added advantage. Applicants must have a minimum of 5 years working experience in a breeding programmes, possess an excellent grasp of biometry/biostatistics and ability to analyse, interpret and present data.
