Applications are invited from suitably qualified persons to fill the following vacant positions:
POST A: PLANNING TECHNICIAN
DEPARTMENT:
REPORTING TO: DISTRICT PLANNING OFFICER
GRADE: Grade 8
STATION: HEAD OFFICE, BUT COUNCIL HAVE PREROGATIVE TO TRANSFER WHENEVER NECESSARY.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Prepare layout designs of Residential, commercial and industrial stands and for properties for Council.
Carry out surveys.
Carrying out Feasibility studies for all Council projects.
Prepare layout plans and implement plans.
Ensure that stands are pegged
Produce base maps,
Issuing of clearance letters for property owners seeking shop licences
Supervision of building construction inspection
Monitor and control development in the district
Facilitating land-use in the district for Council
Inspection of all construction works by private sector
Preparing progress reports.
Advising Council on planning issues
Engaging with community engagement
Producing process and technical reports.
Any other duties assigned by the supervisor from time to time.
QUALIFICATIONS:
National Diploma in Rural and Urban Planning with at least 2-5 years post graduate experience in a Local Government Experience.
Demonstrable Expert knowledge in Autocad and GIS applications
Clean Class 4 driver’s licence with practical experience.
Computer literacy.
Mature and should be able to work under minimum supervision.
A professional a member of ZIEP.
Clean service history in the local Government fraternity.

Experience in handling databases
Leadership abilities, including supervisory and team building skills
Excellent interpersonal and oral and written communication skills
Able to maintain professionalism and have an excellent sense of integrity and ethics
Ability to adapt to different work environments;
