Purpose of the Position :
To implement the Participatory Health and Hygiene Education Hardware and Soft Ware components of Water, Sanitation and Hygiene Projects.
Duties And Responsibilities
Project Implementation
Plan, implement and monitor participatory WASH (Water Sanitation and Hygiene) Hardware and Software promotion and related project activities.
Facilitate to ensure that project activities are implemented timely, efficiently and effectively to meet project objectives and standards.
Mobilize local communities and stakeholders at Ward and Village levels to participate and contribute effectively in WASH hardware and Software sanitation and Hygiene projects.
Facilitate improvement of knowledge of safe hygiene practices among the target urban and rural communities through participatory hygiene education and with special focus on inclusive WASH e.g. gender, disability, vulnerability, mainstreaming of girl child and women empowerment and cross cutting commitments such as Covid 19, HIV and AIDS, Child Protection, disability, environment and social safeguards, disaster risk reduction, gender, access to services by the elderly and disadvantaged and disability
Project Facilitation & Production of IEC Materials
Facilitate the designing of participatory sanitation and hygiene behavior change (IEC) and training materials for SaFPHHE and PHHE promotion interventions in line with the operational guidelines for hygiene promotion in rural and urban areas and implement the same with focus on inclusive WASH e.g. gender, vulnerability, disability etc.
Facilitate development and submit accurate bills of quantities for WASH project materials.
Assist in needs assessments, baseline surveys, inventories, data collection and analysis activities incidental to project implementation
Networking and Advocacy
Supporting the Rural Districts and Town Councils in the development of long-term plans for sanitation and hygiene promotion interventions and provide necessary training and equipment (Mobility, IEC material etc.) for sustained sanitation and hygiene promotion by the councils
Build the Capacity of Govt extension workers, health institutions, communities and schools in sanitation and hygiene promotion including cross cutting issues such as Covid 19, HIV and AIDS, Child Protection, disability, environment and social safeguards, disaster risk reduction, gender and access to services by the elderly and disadvantaged
Facilitate the conducting of PHHE to promote sanitation, hygiene and health related behavior change Empowerment national policies and strategies.
Advocacy for adoption of appropriate/low cost technologies and standards, simplified/propoor policies which capture all operation and maintenance costs for the WASH sector.
Documentation
Prepare and submit accurate timely project reports to meet reporting requirements.
Document and share lessons learnt in WASH projects and programmes
Qualifications And Experience
Qualification, Skills & Experience
National Diploma in Environmental Health. A Bachelor of Science degree in Environmental Health/Science or Water and Sanitation, Community Development or any other relevant discipline will be an added advantage.
At least three (3) years’ experience in implementing Water Sanitation and Hygiene projects.
Experience in Sanitation, Health and Hygiene Education. Experience in Community Based Management of WASH projects
