Summary of Key Functions
The Pharmacy Logistics and Research Officer is responsible for supporting pharmaceutical policy implementation, logistics management, and research activities to enhance the efficiency of pharmaceutical services in Zimbabwe. The officer will ensure effective medicines supply chain management, support data-driven decision-making, and contribute to improving pharmaceutical service delivery.
Key Responsibility
* Support the implementation of national pharmaceutical policies and regulations in line with Government guidelines.
* Ensure compliance with the National Medicines Policy, Essential Drugs List of Zimbabwe (EDLIZ), and medicines donation guidelines.
* Assist in monitoring adherence to pharmaceutical protocols and standards.
* Assist in the quantification and forecasting of essential medicines and medical supplies to prevent shortages or overstocking.
* Support the development and application of an efficient electronic medicines logistics management system.
* Provide technical assistance in monitoring stock levels and ensuring timely procurement and distribution of pharmaceuticals.
* Conduct pharmaceutical logistics and supply chain research to inform decision-making and policy development.
* Analyze data on medicine consumption, distribution patterns, and logistics efficiency.
* Prepare periodic reports and recommendations based on research findings.
* Support the monitoring and evaluation of pharmaceutical service delivery and logistics management.
* Assist in the periodic review of pharmaceutical service strategies, ensuring alignment with national and international best practices.
* Identify service delivery gaps and recommend improvements.
* Participate in the development and implementation of training programs for pharmacy personnel on supply chain management and logistics.
* Provide technical guidance on best practices in pharmaceutical logistics.
* Assist in the development and administration of pharmaceutical logistics budgets.
* Ensure cost-effective procurement and distribution of medicines.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy, Pharmaceutical Sciences, or a related field.
Experience and skills
* At least 4 years of experience in public sector pharmaceutical supply chain management, logistics, and/or research.
* Knowledge of pharmaceutical policies, national health regulations, and supply chain principles.
* Proficiency in data analysis and reporting.
