To provide technical leadership in the design, management, monitoring, and evaluation of the operations research agenda under the BMGF-funded INTEGRATE project, and to inform the relevant M&E systems for research and program operations based on needs, resources, and capacities. S/he will ensure the quality of quantitative and qualitative methods and participatory methodologies used to monitor programs as well as develop systems to ensure the results of operations research are integrated into program activities. This position will work closely with the INTEGRATE Project Lead and Strategic Information and Communications Specialists to deliver a robust documentation and dissemination agenda to catalyze the broader community of practice in Zimbabwe and beyond.
Duties And Responsibilities
Your contribution
• Prepares the annual research plan reflecting all identified research evidence needs.
• Regularly reviews annual research plans to align with program evidence needs and resources.
• Develops appropriate study designs for both qualitative and quantitative workstreams. Supports program effectiveness through the introduction of methodological innovations (from academia and private market research sectors).
• Ensures that evidence generation minimum standards are followed, including ethics review submissions where relevant, documentation, and reporting.
• Acts as the primary point of contact for the BMGF and research partners for all Shang Ring operations research as defined under Outcome 3 of the program.
• Coordinates research activities between the INTEGRATE team, PSI/Z, MOHCC, local research agencies, and/or consultants, and ensures quality control over study design, field implementation, data collection and analysis, data interpretation, and timely delivery of research results.
• Oversees market research and costing partners involved in operations research.
• Coordinates and liaises with the program throughout the research process, including during design, implementation, and dissemination of results.
• Works with M&E and programs to ensure relevant data for operations research are collated routinely.
• Contribute input and technical expertise in support of knowledge products production especially publications, learning briefs, infographics, and conference presentations.
• Represent INTEGRATE in relevant TWGs.
Qualifications And Experience
What are we looking for?
• A master’s degree in public health, social sciences, statistics, demography, or any relevant field.
• Demonstrated computer skills and experience with STATA, SPSS, Epi Info, and spreadsheets is necessary.
• Experience in program/project design in NGO settings.
• Ability to apply statistical sampling methodologies in population-based research.
• Demonstrable commitment to excellence in research and ability to work in a multi-disciplinary environment.
• At least 5 years’ experience in program and health-related research.
• Clean class 4 driver’s license, at least 2 years old.
