National Pharmaceutical Company is a Government owned company that is assigned the mandate to procure using efficient methods, warehouse, distribute to service delivery points nationwide and manufacture medicines and medical supplies. Vacancies have arisen within the Company. The company is inviting applications from suitably qualified, self- motivated, honest and experienced individuals who are committed to contributing to an efficient and effective health delivery system in Zimbabwe to fill the following posts.

  1. OPERATIONS MANAGER

DUTY STATION: HARARE

The Operations Manager reports to the Managing Director and will be responsible for the following among other duties:

  • Determine in liaison with the Ministry of Health and Child Care, Branch/Sales Department Managers optimum stock holding of medicines and medical supplies to satisfy the national requirement.
  • Efficient and effective warehouse management of stocks.
  • Efficient and effective management of the distribution fleet and warehouse equipment.
  • Ensure storage and distribution of commodities as well as any business operations within Stores Department are done as per approved Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Ensure stock takes are performed within the approved timelines and that Health Development Partners and other key stakeholders are updated on stock status through prescribed monthly reports.
  • Participate in key stakeholder meetings.
  • Identify and recommend for disposal, redundant, expired and obsolete equipment.
  • Ensure that the expiry of medicines is eliminated through strict adherence to FIFO, FEFO and other appropriate interventions.
  • Manage the NatPharm security portfolio.
  • Submit Operations budgets and other reports as needed.
  • Enforce safety standards in the warehouses.
  • Appraise all staff under Operations department.
  • Draft for approval and implement the Departmental Plan.
  • Chair Management Committees as assigned.

Qualifications and Key Competencies

The successful candidate should be in possession of the following:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Pharmacy/Supply Chain Management/Operations Management.
  • MSc, MBA/Any relevant Post Graduate qualification at Masters Level are required
  • 5+ years’ experience in a similar position.
  • Pharmaceutical Production knowledge and experience
  • Advanced computer skills, including proficiency in MS Office and ERP
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Strong Decision Making.
  • Thorough and meticulous.
  • Be an innovative and independent thinker.
  • Should have worked in the production of pharmaceuticals.
  • Experience in pharmaceutical manufacturing sectors will be an added advantage.
