REPORTINGTO PRINCIPAL SYSTEMS OFFICER (ICT
INFRASTRUCTURE)
Applications are invited from suitably qualified and experienced persons for appointment to the above vacant position.
JOB OBJECTIVE
Responsible for designing, organizing, modifying, installing, and supporting the organization’s computer systems. Designs and installs, LANs, WANs, Internet, intranet systems, and network infrastructure as well as maintaining the computing environment by identifying network requirements, installing upgrades, configuring, monitoring network performance and maintaining information and
infrastructure security.
Duties And Responsibilities
KEY RESULT AREAS AND DUTIES
Maintain the network infrastructure, including all servers,
firewalls, switches, routers and other active equipment
Determining network and system requirements and perform necessary deployments and upgrades
Ensuring network connectivity throughout the organisation’s LAN/WAN infrastructure
Designing and deploying hybrid networks and performing network address assignments.
Maintain optimal network performance, network facilities, on all machines, enterprise storage and network servers
Responsible for the City’s wireless connectivity, data centre administration and security
Implement and maintain efficient disaster recovery and business continuity location, which includes essential file replication and remote access in the event of an emergency
Determine and administer user access, privileges, security and enforcing system standards
implement new solutions and improve resilience of the current environment
secure network systems by establishing, enforcing policies, defining and monitoring access
Qualifications And Experience
support and administer firewall environments in line with IT security policy
• install and upgrade data network equipment to the latest stable firmware releases
configure routing and switching equipment and IP voice services
• provide remote support, remote troubleshooting and fault finding to users and entire environment
• Develop and maintain documentation on all systems and procedures relevant to the role.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
• Bachelor’s degree in a computer-related field required
• Microsoft , Networking and IT service management Certifications
• Networking Certifications – CCNA, CCNP Enterprise required
• Proven experience managing a large WAN and complex networks
• Must be able to complete complex projects with minimal supervision
• Familiarity with server, VOIP, storage, enterprise management and monitoring tools
Strong interpersonal skills to assist non-technical individuals with complex technical issues
• Exceptional critical thinking, troubleshooting and problem solving abilities
• Must be a fully subscribed member of a recognized Computer professional body
