A Zimbabwean registered local NGO is seeking for the services of an experienced and qualified professional to take up the role of National Director based at the organisation’s headquarters in Harare.
Position summary
The position is responsible for providing strategic oversight on operations, technical guidance on programming and ensuring overall performance of the organisation, in line with the set policies and procedures, donor guidelines, international best practices and expectations for accountability and transparency.
Key responsibilities
Lead the design, implementation and monitoring of the organisation’s strategic plan under direction of the Board of Trustees; Drive adherence to corporate governance principles and statutes to ensure compliance at all times and ensure remedial action is taken where necessary; Drive operational excellence by ensuring appropriate best practices, processes and technologies are in place; Ensure implementation of strategies and formulation of policies by delegating appropriate authority levels to key staff, and ensure effective monitoring and reporting of progress, aligned to strategic plans; Review strategy regularly, proactively assess future needs and perform sustainability forecasts to ensure relevance of the institution; Lead by example in organisational ethics and morals, and take strong action against non-adherence to values, ethics and codes; Present plans, reports and proposals at Board meetings and/or Board sub-committees, and ensure that Board decisions/resolutions are translated into clear actions; Support the development of the Board and members through initiating orientation and other activities as directed by the Chairperson; Establish and manage relevant strategic partnerships and relationships with both internal and external stakeholders. Including sound relationships with relevant government authorities; Networking at international and national level with all stakeholders, including ensuring that the organisation makes input to government policy development and legislative review for children’s rights and promoting the best interests of children; Overall responsibility for the resource management processes of the organisation including asset management, resource mobilisation and sustainability in accordance with organisational policy, strategy, donor requirements, international best practices and government regulations; Ensure that the organisation is sufficiently funded through reviewing management and financial reports and statements to determine progress and status in attaining objectives; Demonstrable fundraising skills with both the local community and international donors; Lead all safeguarding interventions ensuring that it is part of the organisational culture and facilitating zero tolerance to abuse and fraud.
Qualifications
An advanced degree in Social Work, Social Sciences, development, public health and/or administration; Senior project management experience with at least ten or more years of demonstrated successful leadership in managing large, complex, donor-funded programs within non-governmental organizations; Experience leading HIV& AIDS-related programs targeting orphans and vulnerable children and PLHIV is desired; Experience with child protection and welfare programs, prevention, systems strengthening, capacity building, service delivery, quality improvement or policy development is desired; At least 5 years proven experience in resource mobilisation; Excellent financial Management skills; Strong Problem solving abilities; Advanced computer literacy; Must be of high integrity and have traceable references; Excellent verbal & written skills, proficiency in English; Clean class 4 Driver’s License.
