VACANCY NOTICE
Applications are invited from suitably qualified, experienced, self-driven and results oriented individuals, to fill the following position that have arisen within Zvimba Rural District Council:

Major Duties and Responsibilities:
• Take action to avoid potential hazards or obstructions, such as utility lines, other equipment, other workers, or faling objects.
• Smooth and compact surfaces using the blade, rippers, and scarifies.
• Shape and finish surfaces, shoulders and slopes to specified slopes, grades, Control the depth and slope of cuts and fills.
• Report any safety concerns or equipment malfunctions to the supervisor and work should.
• Remove debris, such as rocks, stumps, and roots, from the work area.
• Reading a blue print or other drawing to determine the best course of action to take while operating machinery
• Performing work such as grading, spreading and levelling
road beds, levelling land, excavating foundations for structures, and paving surfaces with asphaltor concrete
• Perform final grading for parking lots, driveways, and other paved areas
• Perform daily maintenance checks on the motor grader
• Operate self-propelled grader to spread and level dirt, gravel, and stone, to grade specifications in construction and maintenance of roads.
• Must have the initiative, ability, and willingness to perform and assist with other job positions for job completion as requested.
• Monitor operations and following safety regulations to ensure that health and safety standards and regulations are met to protect themselves and others from injury or death while operating equipment
• Keep records of material or equipment usage or problems encountered.
• Coordinate machine actions with other activities, positioning or moving loads in response to hand or audio signalsfrom crew members.
• Check fuel supplies at sites to ensure adequate availability.
• Assist with the installation of culverts, pipes, and drains
• Any other duties as assigned by Management or
Supervisor.
• Able to perform fine or rough grading and ideally, she/he should be Fine Grade
• Ability to operate equipment such as bulldozers or excavators will be an added advantage
Qualifications & Skills:
• Must have attended school up to ZJC or 0 level or equivalent.
• Class 2 or Better valid drivers license with clean driving record
• Ability to read, write English and interpret blueprints, maps, and other engineering drawings.
• 3 years’ experience operating a motorised grader.

Working Conditions:
• This job requires the ability to lift, pull, and push a minimum of 50 kgs., bend, stoop, kneel, reach, squat twist, and climb heavy equipment several times throughout the day, and balance at heights up to 6 feet from ground level. In addition, you must have the ability to be on your feet regularly and use hands, arms, and legs repeatedly on the job. This includes frequently walking on sloped ground and slippery and uneven surfaces, as well as working in confined areas.
• This job requires the ability to sit for extended periods of time.
• This job requires the ability to see. whether naturally or with vision correction tools (glasses, contacts).
• This job requires the ability to perform essential job tasks in less than favourable job conditions. These may include but are not limited to: Performing strenuous work in varying temperatures, humidity, sand, wind, or other extreme inclement weather conditions for extended periods of time.
• Work may be performed in an environment with exposure to extremely hot materials, fuel, fumes, vapours, dust grease and oils, as well as loud and/or constant noise and exposureto moving equipment.
