Key Responsibilities

• Diagnose vehicle faults manually and using digital diagnostic tools
• Conduct daily checks to ensure all equipment is safe, operational, and meets service standards
• Perform routine, corrective, and preventive maintenance and overhauls on pool vehicles, buses, and mobile equipment
• Repair or replace faulty parts on vehicles and mobile equipment
• Schedule maintenance, provide advice on proper vehicle use, and recommend third-party servicing where necessary
• Conduct test drives to confirm successful repairs
• Supervise and guide trainee mechanics, including on-the-job training
• Implement Quality, Safety, Health, and Environmental standards

Requirements

• Apprenticeship-trained Motor Mechanic or Class One (1) Skilled Worker qualification
• Five (5) O’ Level passes including Mathematics, English, and Science
• Minimum of 5 years post-qualification experience in heavy vehicles and bus maintenance, with at least 3 years as a Class 1 Motor Mechanic in a heavy manufacturing or mining environment
• Strong diagnostic and fault-finding skills, with the ability to use modern diagnostic tools
• Clean Class 2/1 Driver’s Licence
• Experience using CAT diagnostic equipment is an added advantage
• Proficiency in MS Office and experience with ERP systems, preferably SAP
• Knowledge of SHE and Quality Systems; exposure to NOSA SHE System is an advantage
• Good communication skills, both written and verbal
