Key Responsibilities

• Management of mining operations to ensure that set production costs and SHE targets are met.
• Mining contracts management to ensure that mining contractors fulfil their contractual obligations including the achievement of set production targets as well as legal compliance.
• Mine Design and Planning.
• Mining Projects Management.
• The provision of technical support to mining contractors.
• Budgeting and Cost Control.
• Development and coaching of subordinates.
• Mining stakeholder management.

Requirements

• BSc. Degree in Mining Engineering or Equivalent from a reputable tertiary institution.
• Unendorsed Full Blasting Licence a must and a Mine Manager Certificate of Competency as an added advantage.
• At least 10 year’s post qualification experience, 3 years of which should have been at Mine Captain level, preferably in both surface and underground hard rock mining environments.
• Demonstrable experience in Gold Mining, Mining Contracts Management, Mine Planning and Design and Mining Project Management is a distinct advantage.
• Membership of a recognised engineering professional body.
• Working knowledge of safety management system (s) applicable to large scale mining operations/companies, preferably with exposure to the NOSA SHE System.
• Good working knowledge and experience of an ERP system, preferably SAP.
• Holder of a clean Class 4 Driver’s Licence.
