Roles & Responsibilities
* Manage daily mining activities including drilling, blasting, hauling and extraction.
* Develop strategies to meet production targets, minimise downtime, and monitor ore quality.
* Optimise resource usage, manage budgets, cost control in the section and reduce waste.
* Provides adequate safety measures and interventions to eliminate injuries, fatalities and equipment damages.
* Coordinate shift activities, allocate tasks and ensure compliance with the Standard Operating Procedures.
* Enforce statutory mining regulations and company policies, ensuring compliance with Mining (Management and Safety) Regulations (S.I.109 of 1990), and safety protocols in the sections.
* Conduct regular safety drills and risk assessment to identify potential risks and mitigate hazards.
* Provides guidance and mentorship to the mining team ensuring they are adequately trained and equipped to perform their duties safely and efficiently.
* Maintain detailed shift reports, production logs and incident reports.
About You
* Degree in Mining Engineering from a recognised institution.
* Full Blasting Licence holder.
* At least 5 years of experience in an underground mining environment with at least 3 years in a Supervisory position.
* Must be a member of the Zimbabwe Institute of Engineers (ZIE).
