Key Responsibilities

• Ensures compliance to SHEQ policies and procedures in the section.
• Ensures that plans, schedules and overall KPIs are met timeously with quality standards.
• Fosters an interactive and coordinated relationship with Mining teams to achieve key deliverables safely.
• Ensures compliance to statutory regulations, safe work procedures and code of conduct.
• Develops and manages section budget.
• Manages the staff complement in the section (this includes performance and discipline).
• Identifies staff training gaps and provides on and off the job training, coaching and mentorship to subordinates.
• Manages contractor companies’ performance as per Service Level Agreement (SLA).
• Provides adequate safety measures and interventions aligned with FRGM SHEMS policies and procedures.
• Determines sustainable continuous improvement and cost containment initiatives.
• Reports daily, weekly and monthly performance as prescribed by the Mining Manager.
• Performs any other duties assigned by the supervisor.

Requirements

• A recognised Degree in Mining Engineering (relevant postgraduate qualification, professional certificates and membership of a recognised professional body e.g. SAIMM is an added advantage).
• Full Blasting Licence holder.
• 5 years underground mining experience in a similar position.
• Trackless Mining experience is an added advantage.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills are essential to the success of this position.
• The candidate must also be an exceptional team leader with flexible attitude and sound work ethics.
