APOPO is a Belgium Humanitarian Demining Organization that operates in Zimbabwe.

Responsible to: Operations Officer

Conduct medical treatment in the event of serious injury or illness as per the national insurance policy for work related accidents; Appropriate medical support and a well-practised casualty evacuation procedure; Responsible for cleaning the procedure rooms, sets up the equipment and stations at the outreach point and dissembling the same after each session; Cleans the instruments after use and ensures sterile packs always to ensure infection control practices; Measurement and recording of vital signs, such as temperature, blood pressure, pulse, or respiration rate; Document actions by completing forms and records; Ensures proper management of clean and soiled linens; Ensures safe disposal of all medical waste to meet environmental management standards; Listening to the clients concerns and report any issues to the team leader; Responsible for restocking of medical and care supplies in preparation of outreach visits; Ability to work with people of different social backgrounds; Experience in infection prevention standard practices and policies; Strong inter-personal skills, enhancing teamwork and APOPO culture; Ability to handle confidential information appropriately; Ability to prioritize and multi-task as the tasks demand; Perform any other duties assigned by superiors

Qualifications

Candidates should be qualified and experienced Advance Life Support trained, either a Registered General Nurse or have equivalent military or civilian paramedic qualifications; Experience working with trauma and ability to train other medics is an added advantage
