Applications are invited from suitably qualified persons for the post of Matron at St Mary Magdalene’s High School, Nyanga.

JOB DESCRIPTION

1. Managing asset register at Hostel level.
2. Ensuring hostel cleanliness.
3. Monitoring health issues /problems to ensure learners’ good health and safety.
4. Counselling and doing behavioural analysis of learners.
5. Supervising learners during meal and bed times.
6. To be the in-house resident boarding matron for the school.
7. Actively supervise students by maintaining a warm presence in the boarding house at all times.
8. Encourage an open, warm and inclusive boarding environment in line with the values of the school
9. Ensure that students dress and behave appropriately in accordance with school policy
10. Communicate with parents and welcome boarding guests
11. Ensuring that the hostels and their surroundings are immaculately clean at all times.
12. To carry out any other duties, as appropriate to the role, when requested by the Principal.

PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES ,QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

• Qualifications in Education, Health or social work or other related disciplines.
• Preferably someone with a nursing, teaching or counselling background.
• Holder of at least an Education or Police/Security related Diploma
• A practising Christian (Anglicans encouraged to apply)
• Preferably a mature lady above the age of 40
• Conversant with Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education Policies.

An added advantage for the following:

• Having worked in a boarding environment; House keeping ;First Aid or Counselling certificate
