Mosi Oa Tunya Development Company (Private) Limited, a State-Owned Entity responsible for tourism infrastructure development, is seeking a visionary and dynamic Managing Director. The successful candidate will lead the organization in realizing the shareholder’s vision to make tourism a major driver of Zimbabwe’s economy. This role calls for an individual who can strategically direct, execute, and refine business strategies to position the organization as a key player in the tourism sector, both locally and internationally.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, execute, and refine business strategies in line with the company’s vision and objectives.
- Establish and sustain relationships with key stakeholders, including government entities, board members, clients, and strategic partners.
- Lead, mentor, and inspire the senior management team, fostering a culture of accountability and high performance.
- Champion the organization’s mission and objectives, promoting a high level of staff engagement and productivity.
- Oversee financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and reporting to ensure sustainability and profitability.
- Implement robust financial controls and risk management frameworks to safeguard the company’s assets.
- Monitor industry trends and the competitive landscape to identify growth opportunities and mitigate threats.
- Drive the development of new business opportunities and negotiate contracts favorable to the company.
- Ensure adherence to all legal, regulatory, and policy requirements, managing risks and ensuring corporate governance best practices.
- Report regularly to the board on strategic initiatives, operational performance, and financial status.
- Represent the organization effectively in various forums and media, positioning the company as a leader in tourism infrastructure.
Requirements
- A Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business, Strategic Management, Project Management, or a related field
- MBA
- At least five years of senior leadership experience at the Director Level or equivalent.
- Exceptional negotiation skills with a track record of closing high-value contracts.
- Proven ability to challenge conventional thinking and drive innovative approaches.
- Deep understanding of the tourism industry and its market dynamics.
- Outstanding communication, interpersonal, and report-writing skills.
