Job Profile:
The Maintenance/Workshop Manager will have overall responsibility for the maintenance and reliability of heavy mobile equipment (MMUs and MCUs), the plant, and full company fleet. The role provides leadership to all artisan millwrights and maintenance personnel and is accountable for workshop performance, equipment availability, safety compliance, and cost control.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide overall leadership, supervision, and discipline of all artisans across the business.
  • Plan, coordinate, and execute preventative, predictive, and breakdown maintenance activities.
  • Take full responsibility for maintenance of the explosives manufacturing plant, infrastructure, light vehicles, and heavy mobile equipment (MMUs, MCUs, tankers).
  • Ensure high equipment availability and reliability to support production, field operations, logistics, and sales activities.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor maintenance schedules, job cards, and work plans.
  • Control maintenance costs, spares usage, and contractor services.
  • Diagnose recurring faults and implement corrective and improvement actions.
  • Ensure compliance with safety, statutory, and explosives-related maintenance requirements.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records, service histories, and asset registers.
  • Coordinate inspections, audits, shutdowns, and major overhauls.
  • Work closely with Operations, Logistics, Production, and SHES teams to align maintenance priorities.
  • Identify training gaps and support skills development for artisans.

Requirements

  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering field.
  • Journeyman qualification in a relevant trade will be a distinct advantage.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in plant and heavy equipment maintenance, with supervisory responsibility.
  • Strong leadership, planning, and problem-solving skills
  • Clean class 4 driver’s license.
