Legal Officer (Graduate Intern)

CATCH Zimbabwe is a registered PVO whose mission is being the face of children’s rights in Zimbabwe. The organisation is looking for a lawyer who is willing to grow in the organisation and have a passion for advocating for children’s rights. The legal officer will report to the Project legal officer and will be expected to cover all legal work for their respective project area as allocated and contribute to the advocacy initiatives of the organisation. The legal officer will also be responsible for providing legal information and administrative options to beneficiaries of the organisation.
KEY ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
· Scouting for cases
· Handling or organizing of case files
· Court attendance and accompaniment
· Provision of legal information to children and their guardians working in collaboration with the external lawyers
· Conducting awareness raising initiatives on child rights
· Documentation and advocacy
· Networking with other child protection stakeholders
· Report writing and any other duties assigned by the supervisor
Qualifications
A minimum of 2 years relevant work experience in an environment dealing with child protection, child rights and child participation issues and ability to work within multi-cultural environments pertaining to situations of children will be an added advantage.
Good interpersonal and advocacy, skills, excellent research and report writing skills, computer literacy and fluency in written and spoken English and at least one local language.
