Department of Applied Chemistry
POST A: ORGANIC CHEMISTRY (2 POSTS)
Applicants must hold at least a Masters degree in Organic Chemistry and/or be experienced in
teaching Organic Chemistry at tertiary level (a minimum of 2 years) and must have extensive
knowledge in Organic Synthesis or Industrial Organic Chemistry. The successful candidate will be
expected to teach Organic Chemistry at undergraduate honours level and will also be expected to
develop research within his/her area of specialization. In addition, applicants will be expected to
develop, update and review Organic Chemistry courses at undergraduate and possibly postgraduate
level in order to keep up with changes in technology and will also be involved in the supervision of
final year research projects and industrial attachment.
POST B: INORGANIC CHEMISTRY (1 POST)
Applicants must hold an MSc in Industrial Chemistry with a minimum of 2 years’ relevant Industrial
experience as a Chemist in Production or Manufacturing Environment. Applicants must hold
qualifications in Quality Assurance. A PhD in Industrial Chemistry or Inorganic Chemistry will be an
added advantage. The candidate must be experienced in teaching Quality Assurance Management &
Control, Industrial Inorganic Chemistry and Project Development and Management at Undergraduate
level. The successful candidate will be expected to develop a research and publication record within
his/her area of specialization.
POST C: ANALYTICAL CHEMISTRY (1 POST)
Applicants must hold an MSc in Analytical Chemistry and have a minimum of 2 years’ experience in
teaching Analytical Chemistry at Undergraduate level. The successful candidates will be expected to
develop research and publication record within their area of specialization. A PhD in Analytical
Chemistry and knowledge of Computational Chemistry will be added advantages
