Key Responsibilities

  • Teaching and University Service: The incumbent is expected to teach or deliver lectures in accordance with the Departmental and/or Faculty guidelines and standards
  • The incumbent should also participate in all Department, Faculty, and University activities such as attending meetings, training workshops, conferences, committees, and seminars, among others
  • Research: The incumbent is expected to engage in active research in his/her area of specialization, which benefits both the students and the University
  • Innovations: The incumbent is expected to bring innovations, which should lead to the production of goods and services
  • Industrialization: The incumbent should be industrial through the commercialization of innovations, establishing start-ups, and building industries to produce goods and services that foster economic growth
  • Community Services: The incumbent is expected to apply academic expertise to address societal challenges and improve local community livelihoods

Requirements

  • MSc/MEng in Metallurgical Engineering or Chemical Engineering
  • BSc/BEng in Metallurgical Engineering or Chemical Engineering
  • At least five (5) Ordinary Level passes, including Mathematics and English
  • A relevant PhD qualification will be an added advantage
  • Postgraduate Diploma in Tertiary Education or equivalent will be an added advantage
  • At least one year of teaching experience at a tertiary institution will be an added advantage
  • Publications in peer-reviewed journals in Metallurgical Engineering or related fields will be an added advantage
  • The successful candidate should be able to teach at least three of the following modules at the undergraduate level: Minerals Processing, Engineering Failure Analysis, Heat and Mass Transfer, Pyrometallurgy, or Hydrometallurgy

Gwanda State University is a state higher education institution that is in Insiza district, Zimbabwe. The university is temporarily at the former Epoch Mine in Insiza district whilst construction takes place. The university is in Isiza district which was once part of Gwanda district from where the university get its name.
