Key Responsibilities

• Coordinate and schedule incoming samples from the mine site.
• Prioritize samples based on operational importance (e.g., ore grade control vs. exploration).
• Ensure proper chain-of-custody and documentation of samples.
• Supervise daily laboratory activities including crushing, pulverizing, and fire assay procedures.
• Maintain accuracy and consistency in assay results to support production decisions.
• Implement and monitor quality control protocols (e.g., blanks, standards, duplicates).
• Review and validate assay results before submission to departments.
• Prepare detailed reports for geologists, metallurgists, and mine planners.
• Manage laboratory staff, assign tasks, and monitor performance.
• Train technicians in assay techniques, safety procedures, and equipment use.
• Comply with SHEQ standards in line with ISO 14001:2015 and ISO 45001:2018 standards as well as other relevant legal frameworks.

Requirements

• At least 5 O Levels including Mathematics and English.
• National Diploma in Metallurgical Assay or related laboratory sciences.
• Understanding of mineral assay techniques (fire assay, wet chemistry, instrumental analysis).
• Familiarity with ISO 17025:2017 standards for laboratory quality management.
• At least 3 years postgraduate experience.
