Reports To: Project Coordinator
Job Summary
The IT Intern will assist the IT department in maintaining and improving the company’s IT systems and infrastructure. This position provides hands-on experience with real-world IT challenges in a dynamic environment while supporting the department’s daily operations.
Key Responsibilities
1. Technical Support
o Provide first-level technical support to employees, troubleshooting hardware, software, and network issues.
o Assist in resolving user issues through remote or in-person support.
2. System Maintenance
o Perform routine system and software updates.
o Assist in monitoring and maintaining IT infrastructure, including servers, networks, and computers.
3. Installation and Configuration
o Help install and configure new hardware and software.
o Support IT staff in deploying new equipment and peripherals.
4. Documentation and Reporting
o Document IT issues and resolutions in the ticketing system.
o Maintain and update technical documentation, such as network diagrams and asset registers.
5. Project Assistance
o Assist in IT projects, including system migrations, upgrades, and deployments.
o Participate in research and implementation of new technologies.
6. Data Management
o Support data backups and recovery processes.
o Ensure data integrity and security by following company IT policies.
7. Other Duties
o Conduct inventory checks of IT assets and supplies.
o Assist in educating staff on IT best practices and security awareness.
o Perform other related duties as assigned by the IT Manager.
Skills and Qualifications
Required:
• Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree/diploma in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
• Basic knowledge of hardware, software, and networking concepts.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite and operating systems (Windows/Linux).
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred:
• Experience with troubleshooting IT systems (via coursework, projects, or prior internships).
• Basic understanding of cybersecurity principles.
• Familiarity with IT ticketing systems or asset management tools.
