The FAO Representation in Zimbabwe is seeking an experienced and service-oriented IT Assistant to join its Harare office. The role will support information resource management and ICT operations for both office-based and field project environments. This is an exciting opportunity to work with a UN Specialized Agency committed to supporting national efforts in food security, sustainable agriculture, and rural development.

Key Responsibilities
User Support
-
Receive and log IT support requests; troubleshoot and escalate issues as necessary

Provide onboarding and IT orientation for new staff
-
Guide users on software platforms (MS Office, SharePoint, OneDrive) and IT policies
-
Offer technical assistance for internal and external missions
Network & Connectivity
-
Support maintenance of LAN/WAN infrastructure and connectivity agreements
-
Keep network documentation and diagrams up to date
-
Implement and monitor IT security protocols
IT Equipment Management
-
Maintain an up-to-date inventory of IT assets
-
Monitor hardware life cycles and plan for timely upgrades
-
Coordinate allocation and reassignment of equipment
Technical Troubleshooting

Resolve hardware, software, and service-related incidents
-
Log and manage service tickets in the corporate helpdesk system
-
Ensure timely resolution or escalation in line with SLAs
Proactive Support & Planning

Identify IT equipment and infrastructure needs in advance
-
Support compliance with FAO IT policies and guidelines
-
Coordinate with regional ISD on IT priorities and classifications
Additional Duties

Perform administrative support tasks as assigned by supervisors
-
Participate in planning and implementing office-wide IT improvements
Minimum Requirements
-
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field
-
At least 5 years’ experience in IT support or helpdesk roles
-
Working knowledge of English (Level C)

Must be a Zimbabwean national or hold a valid Zimbabwean work permit
Desirable Qualifications

Microsoft 365 Certified: Modern Desktop Administrator Associate or
Endpoint Administrator Associate certification is an added advantage
