JOB DESCRIPTION

SIRDC is looking for an Internal Audit Manager who is capable of adding value to its operations by bringing a systematic and disciplined approach to the effectiveness of internal controls, risk management and governance processes.

The key job functions will be:

• To formulate audit strategy, risk based audit plan and budget in line with the organisation’s strategy
• Develop internal audit charter
• Review internal control systems across all departments and institutes.
• Play advisory role to the Board Audit Committee as well as to Management on latest developments in internal audit and business practices
• Oversee the production and submission of timely and clear audit reports with recommendations aimed at strengthening the overall control environment.
• Monitor progress of management actions to control weaknesses communicated in the audit reports
• Supervision of the internal audit department staff
• Reviewing and appraising the soundness, adequacy and application of accounting, financial and other operating controls.
• Enforce compliance with state law, corporate governance and SIRDC policies and procedures.

Knowledge and Skills

• Proficiency in applying Audit standards
• Appreciation of fundamentals of accounting principles
• Analytical skills
• Knowledge of Company Law, Taxation, Audit and Finance Act
• Report writing skills
• Exposure to manufacturing environmentis an added advantage

Qualifications and Experience

The incumbent should possess the following qualifications:-

• First degree in Accounting/Accountancy/Auditing
• Master’s degree, CISA, CIA, CFE holders would have added advantage
• At least 10 years auditing experience of which 5 years must be at Management
