JOB DESCRIPTION

A local NGO seeks to recruit for a legal internship post. She / he will support the Access to Justice and livelihood / humanitarian interventions of the organization in Mutoko, Marondera and Murewa.

Position summary

The role will include ensuring all interventions for access to justice, economic empowerment and agricultural needs of communities. The LA will also establish the local and national relationships that are necessary to ensure that the organization’s Programme on Access to Justice and Support and capacitate communities on going agriculture related projects in aforesaid target areas.

Qualifications

Selection will be on a competitive basis and the following minimum qualifications, experience and competencies are required:

• Law degree plus professional experience, a diploma or experience in agriculture related projects will be an added advantage;
• Candidates must be qualified to practice law or admitted to practice by the Law Society of Zimbabwe;
• A minimum of two years relevant experience in a private practice or local NGO with track record of court appearance in both civil and criminal matters;
• Fluency in English and local language skills;
• Working knowledge of women’s rights and gender based violence is an added advantage;
• High technical and conceptual competence as well as rigorous intellectual integrity;
• Excellent drafting skills in respect of legal and administrative instruments coupled with proven ability to negotiate and build consensus with diverse stakeholders;
• Possession of high level of integrity; moral value; discretion and confidentiality ability to work with minimum supervision;
• Possession of a teamwork orientation and ability to interact harmoniously and effectively with colleagues from diverse disciplines, perspectives, countries and cultures.
