A local NGO seeks to recruit for an Intern (Communications) who will provide administrative support to the national director and programmes coordinator to ensure that all administrative and communication needs of the organization are addressed.

Position summary
The role will include supporting programmes teams in terms of events planning, designing of visibility material. It will also include developing and managing organizational digital and social media accounts and website. The candidate will also be responsible for building and maintaining strong linkages with media outlets at national and regional levels.

 

Duties And Responsibilities

Accountabilities
Produce high quality materials including information packs, opinion pieces, powerpoint presentations, press releases, speeches and talking points, news reactions, photos, blogs, annual reports, newsletters, video and multimedia content; Projects documentation that includes video documentaries, images and report writing; Plan, coordinate and execute events on increasing organizational and media visibility building brand and consumer awareness; Communication and dissemination of media products, jingles and bloggers; Layout, design, production and distribution of internal publications; Events management and coordination of organizational events; Provide technical support including facilitation of online meetings and mentoring of staff; Provide support to spokespeople on a range of humanitarian, development and campaigning issues while training more spokespeople in the country office

External
Work with organization management team, program staff and partners to ensure production and availability of high quality communications products for a wide range of audiences including donors, partners including the private sector, policy makers and the general public, regional and national level.

 

Qualifications And Experience

Qualifications and experience
A university degree / Higher National Diploma in Mass Communications and / or marketing; Excellent written and verbal communication skills at all levels is a prerequisite.
Previous work experience in managing internal communications, knowledge of digital media, creating networks and working with NGOs will be an added advantage; Excellent analytical and critical thinking skills, including ability to find, absorb, analyze and prioritize information from many different sources, and proven experience of strategy development; Ability to work under pressure, to tight deadlines, with competing priorities and minimal supervision; Ability to travel – sometimes at short notice and to humanitarian crisis areas; Excellent inter-personal skills and ability to work in multi-national, multi-cultural settings.
