Information and Communication Technology Officer (Grade 5)
Position Overview
The Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Officer at Grade 5 is responsible for managing and supporting the municipal council’s information technology systems. The incumbent will ensure the efficient operation of both hardware and software components, with a focus on the Promun System and LADS. The role involves systems administration, troubleshooting, and providing technical support to council staff.
Key Responsibilities

Technical Support: Provide expert support for hardware and software issues, ensuring minimal downtime and efficient resolution of technical problems.

System Administration: Manage, configure, and maintain the Promun System and LADS, ensuring optimal performance and security.

Hardware Maintenance: Oversee the installation, configuration, and maintenance of computer hardware and peripherals within the council.

Software Development: Engage in software engineering tasks, including coding, testing, and deploying applications as needed.

Network Management: Monitor and maintain the council’s network infrastructure, ensuring connectivity and security protocols are adhered to.

User Training: Conduct training sessions for council staff on the use of ICT systems and tools, enhancing overall productivity.

Documentation: Maintain accurate records of system configurations, updates, and user manuals to support troubleshooting and training.

Project Management: Participate in ICT projects, collaborating with internal teams and external vendors to implement new technologies and upgrades.
Qualifications

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.

Experience: Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in ICT, particularly with systems administration and software development.
Technical Skills:

Proficiency in the Promun System and LADS.

Strong understanding of hardware components and troubleshooting techniques.

Experience with network management and security protocols.

Familiarity with programming languages and software development methodologies.
