Job Purpose

 

The Job exists for ongoing installations of new networks, diagnosis, and solving problems for the Authority’s wide area computer networks, including network communications errors, storage problems, and malfunctioning server platforms. The Job also exists to keep the Authority’s proprietary and sensitive information secure through working inter-departmentally to identify and correct flaws in the company’s security systems, solutions, and programs while recommending specific measures that can improve the company’s digital assets overall security posture.

 

 

Duties and Responsibilities

 

 

  • Establishing network specifications by conferring with users; analysing workflow, access, information, and security requirements;
  • Planning, designing, testing, integration, and implementation of the Authority’s networks.
  • Investigating security breaches and other cybersecurity incidents.
  • Installing security measures and operating software to protect systems and information infrastructure, including firewalls and data encryption programs.
  • Maintaining network performance by performing network monitoring and analysis, network performance tuning; evaluating throughput and latency, and implementing effective network monitoring programs to achieve maximum performance on all networks.
  • Troubleshooting and resolving network problems;
  • Upgrades and by conferring with vendors; developing, testing, evaluating, and installing enhancements.
  • Maintaining relevant documentation.
  • Implementing disaster recovery initiatives under the guidance of the ICT Manager.
  • Planning and implementing network, software, and security, including building firewalls, applying cryptography to network applications, managing host security, file permissions, file system integrity, and adding and deleting users.
  • Carrying out and supervising all repairs, and scheduled maintenance of ICT hardware and network infrastructure installation activities.
  • Coordinating with the Systems Administrator for purposes of implementing hardware and software upgrades.
  • Assisting the ICT Manager in the preparation of the technical specification, bills of materials and tender documents for the procurement, installation and commissioning of new hardware and related software
  • Preparing, design and conduct user training programs;
  • Providing on-the-job training to technical staff and subordinates
  • Protecting organization’s value by keeping information confidential.
  • Participating in the human resources management for the department.

 

Qualifications and experience

 

 

  • A degree in Computer Science or equivalent
  • At least 7 years of work experience in ICT, 3 of which in network administration in a supervisory/ commercial environment.
  • Current Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) Certification, CCNP Certification or equivalent,
  • Current Cisco certified internetwork expert (CCIE), CISSP or equivalent is an advantage,
  • Microsoft Server (e.g. Azure Administrator Associate/ Expert) / Linux administration certification or equivalent
  • Diploma in Supervisory Management is an advantage

 

 

Skills and Competences

 

 

  • In-depth knowledge of configuring and supporting multi-site networks across Virtual Private Networks, experience of Active Directory, Group Policies and Domain Name Servers.
  • Knowledge of a range of computer networking systems and languages including Linux, Windows, or similar computer networks.
  • Proven track records of supporting large volumes of users (200+) across multiple sites with a focus on database, infrastructure, security, and helpdesk parameters in a commercial environment in a supervisory role.
  • Knowledge of computer and/or network security systems, applications, procedures, and techniques.
  • Ability to install, configure, and maintain telecommunications hardware, including PABX and related devices.
  • Ability to provide technical training to end-users and technical staff.
  • Knowledge of virtualisation
  • Strong troubleshooting / problem solving skills and head for analysis for technology.
  • Skill in organizing resources, time management and meeting priorities and ability to manage multiple projects, activities and tasks simultaneously.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and face-to-face presentation skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to work to a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Good analytical skills
  • Good teamwork, administrative, and organizational skills.
  • Must be patient, meticulous, and logical in their work.
