Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with the collection, handling, processing, and preservation of indigenous fruit samples
  • Participate in formulating and developing novel food products from indigenous fruits
  • Conduct laboratory analyses, including physicochemical, microbiological, and sensory evaluations under supervision
  • Prepare laboratory reagents, operate equipment, and maintain safety standards
  • Record experimental observations and research data accurately
  • Support data entry, analysis, and technical report preparation
  • Contribute to quality control and quality assurance activities during product development
  • Participate in literature reviews and research discussions
  • Assist with pilot-scale production, product optimization, packaging, and shelf-life studies

Requirements

  • Currently studying towards a Bachelor of Science Honours Degree in Biological Sciences, Biotechnology, Microbiology, or a closely related field
  • Must have completed Level 2.2 of their degree programme by 1 August 2026
  • Submit a CV, level 1 and level 2 academic results, and an industrial attachment letter from the university
  • Registered undergraduate student entering Level 3 (Third Year) with eligibility for industrial attachment
  • Studying Biological Sciences, Biotechnology, Microbiology, or related disciplines
  • Basic understanding of microbiology, biochemistry, molecular biology, food science, or biotechnology principles
  • Familiarity with standard laboratory procedures and Good Laboratory Practices (GLP)
  • Laboratory skills including sample preparation, accurate measurements, and documentation
  • Computer literacy in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Strong interest in research, innovation, and food product development
