Position Summary
The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is seeking a Humanitarian Services Program Specialist to support its welfare and humanitarian efforts in Zimbabwe. This role advances the Church’s mission to care for the poor and the needy by strengthening emotional and economic self-reliance, responding to disasters, and coordinating humanitarian aid. The successful candidate will support the planning, execution, and evaluation of welfare and humanitarian programs within the Africa South Area.
Key Responsibilities

Develop and refine the annual humanitarian plan for the area

Prepare and present initiative proposals to Area Authorities and Headquarters

Monitor and assess humanitarian initiatives and emergency response projects

Oversee and support humanitarian missionaries in the area

Coordinate with HQ and Area Presidencies on major initiatives

Engage and manage relationships with NGOs, government agencies, and community partners

Support local Church leaders in preparedness planning and emergency response

Facilitate member participation in local projects and initiatives

Ensure program compliance with Church personnel, safety, and budgetary policies

Represent the Church in official humanitarian and social services contexts
Qualifications and Experience

Must currently hold, or be worthy to hold, a valid temple recommend

Bachelor’s degree in a related field is required

Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in humanitarian services, social work, or program/project management

Proven management experience is essential

Sound knowledge of basic business accounting including contracts, purchase orders, and invoicing

Strong written and verbal communication skills in English

Experience collaborating with ecclesiastical and civic leaders is highly desirable

Willingness and ability to travel locally and within the Africa South Area
