We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Heavy Vehicle Panel Beater & Spray Painter to join our team. In this dual role, you will be responsible for restoring damaged heavy commercial trucks, trailers, and cabs to manufacturer specifications and high-quality visual standards. You will handle everything from structural body repairs, metal fabrication, and panel alignment to surface preparation, color matching, and final paint finishing.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assess body damage on commercial trucks, cabs, frames, and trailers to determine necessary repair methods.
  • Straighten bent frames, chassis, and heavy steel/aluminum structural components using hydraulic pullers and alignment equipment.
  • Remove, repair, or replace damaged fiberglass, sheet metal, side panels, doors, and cab sections.
  • Perform MIG, TIG, and spot welding, as well as rivet and bonding repairs.
  • Fit and align replacement parts, panels, grilles, and bumpers to ensure precise tolerances and smooth operation.
  • Prepare surfaces for painting by sandblasting, sanding, filling, priming, and masking adjacent non-paint areas.
  • Mix, match, and apply paints, primers, and clear coats using high-volume spray gun equipment.

Requirements

  • Experience: Proven experience (3+ years preferred) as a Panel Beater and/or Commercial Spray Painter, ideally working on heavy commercial vehicles (trucks, buses, trailers, or heavy machinery).
  • Certifications: Trade qualification or apprenticeship certification in Heavy Vehicle Body Repair, Automotive Refinishing, or equivalent field experience.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in metal fabrication, fiberglass repair, and frame straightening. Strong welding skills (MIG/TIG). Knowledge of commercial automotive paint systems, color mixing, and spray booth operations.
