A client operating in the mining sector is looking to hire a proactive, qualified, and experienced professional for the aforementioned position that has become available within the company. The successful candidate will report directly to the Chief Executive Officer and will be responsible for the efficient sourcing of capital goods and services, negotiating prices in accordance with market conditions, and maintaining business relationships with existing suppliers to meet the strategic and operational needs of the organization.

Summary of Duties

• Providing strategic leadership, oversight, and coordination roles in the Supply Chain services
• Developing and implementing a vision for value-addition in strategic sourcing, procurement operations, inventory, and logistics management functions.
• Driving change across the organisation to ensure an efficient, cost-effective supply chain whilst maintaining high customer service levels.
• Actively working with management to formulate and administer procurement policies that ensure the integrity of the company.
• Designing processes in which the internal client is at the centre and delivering beyond the clients’ expectations to achieve customer delight.
• Cost control through management of the allocated resources by ensuring that the department does not deviate from the stipulated budget.
• Ensuring that the company’s reputation in all areas that it operates and in the greater business community is safeguarded and enhanced through professionalism and business ethics.

Person Specifications

• Degree in Supply Chain Management/Purchasing and Supply or equivalent.
• Post Graduate qualification such as an MBA or Master’s Degree in Supply Chain or equivalent.
• Professional qualification such as CIPS or equivalent.
• Current relevant experience of at least 5 years heading a Procurement Management Unit in a mining or heavy manufacturing industry.
• Expenence with PRAZ operations is essential.
• Experience in working with SAP.
• Sound knowledge of SHEQ Management Systems
