Head – Housing & Buildings Infrastructure

A renowned construction company is inviting suitably qualified and experienced candidates to apply for the position of Head – Housing & Buildings Infrastructure.

 

 

Roles and Responsibilities:

 

 

1. Technical & Engineering Management

 

 

  • Oversee construction engineering activities including structural works, building works, and finishing operations.

  • Conduct and participate in design reviews to ensure constructability, compliance, and alignment with project objectives.

  • Provide technical guidance to site teams and ensure adherence to engineering standards and best practices.

 

 

2. Project Planning, Budgeting & Control

 

 

  • Prepare project budgets and monitor financial performance throughout the project lifecycle.

  • Develop, update, and manage detailed project schedules; track progress and implement corrective measures where required.

  • Lead monitoring and controlling processes to ensure cost, time, and scope targets are met.

 

 

3. Contract & Claims Management

 

 

  • Administer contracts in accordance with FIDIC, JBCC, and/or ZGCC Conditions of Contract.

  • Prepare, assess, and certify Interim Payment Certificates (IPCs).

  • Manage delays, disruptions, and claims, ensuring timely documentation, negotiation, and resolution.

  • Enforce contractual obligations while maintaining positive stakeholder relationships.

 

 

4. Procurement & Resource Management

 

 

  • Manage procurement planning, supplier evaluation, and contract negotiation to ensure cost-effective sourcing.

  • Oversee equipment allocation, utilisation, and optimisation to maximise productivity and minimise downtime.

  • Coordinate material planning and ensure timely availability of resources.

 

 

5. SHEQ & Risk Management

 

 

  • Implement and monitor Quality Management processes to ensure compliance with project specifications and standards.

  • Ensure adherence to Safety, Health, Environmental and Quality (SHEQ) regulations, promoting a safe working environment.

  • Identify, evaluate, and manage project risks, implementing mitigation measures where necessary.

 

 

6. Stakeholder Engagement & Leadership

 

 

  • Chair interdisciplinary and coordination meetings to ensure alignment across engineering, commercial, and operations teams.

  • Maintain strong stakeholder management, ensuring timely communication and addressing emerging issues effectively.

  • Lead, motivate, and manage project staff, including performance management and skills development initiatives.

 

 

7. Reporting & Documentation

 

 

  • Prepare comprehensive project reports covering progress, cost, schedule, risks, and key performance indicators.

  • Maintain accurate project documentation, ensuring compliance with internal and external audit requirements.

  • Support commissioning and handover processes, ensuring all deliverables meet contractual and regulatory expectations.

 

 

Qualifications and Experience:

 

 

  1. A Bachelor’s Degree (Honours) in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, Construction Management, Quantity Surveying or a closely related field.

  2. A relevant Master’s Degree such as an MBA, MSc in Project Management, or equivalent is an added advantage.

  3. Must be registered in at least one of the following: Professional Engineer (Pr. Eng), Chartered Surveyor (MRICS/MCIOB), Chartered Engineer, Chartered Project Manager, or equivalent standing with a recognized professional body.

  4. Professional Certification in Project Management or Contracts Administration is an added advantage

  5. A minimum of 12 years of post-qualification experience in infrastructure and buildings construction, with at least 5 years spent in a senior management or executive role overseeing a large portfolio or major capital projects.

  6. Sound knowledge of SHEQ legal requirements and familiarity with the Integrated Management Systems (ISO 9001:2015, ISO 14001:2015, ISO 45001:2018) will be an added advantage.
