Qualifications, Experience and Attributes
Applicants must possess the following:
- A Higher National Diploma (HND) in Desktop Publishing (DTP) or Bachelor’s
Degree in a related field; - A qualification in Graphic Design or Arts or 3-D design or illustrator;
- Ability to create and produce graphic design materials using a range of
media, methods, techniques and equipment for example book designs,
adverts and other creative projects; - Experience and skills in digital publishing or e-publishing.
- Skills in the utilization of specified computerized graphic design software and
programs e.g Adobe Creative Cloud; - Knowledge of printing processes, procedures, specifications, reproduction
processes and techniques; - Unquestionable communication, time management, organizational and
problem –solving skills; - Ability to analyze and interpret user graphic requirements, graphic and
technical information and to create interpretive illustrations; - Highly creative imaginative and analytical individual preferred, one with an
acute vision, a good eye for design, layout and detail and is deadline oriented. - A flexible, confident and patient personality is preferred, as pressure to meet
deadlines means extra hours may be required at times. - A minimum of one year working experience is essential.
Duties and Responsibilities
The successful candidate would be responsible for:
- Creating original graphics, layouts and concepts/designs for signage, logos,
pamphlets, business cards, banners, books and journals and other creative
projects for both print and electronic media; - Creating stunning motion graphics and visual effects (including videos,
animation and audios; - Planning and developing print and/or reproduction specifications production
schedules including costing and workflow assignments; - Designing standardized and high quality graphics (corporate wear and
stationery); - Designing and developing branded materials (Including signage, adverts,
posters, letterheads, business cards, logos, pamphlets, memorabilia,
artefacts, etc); - Contributing high quality image content for University publications including
books magazines, newsletters and social media platforms.
