Job Summary

A local NGO is inviting suitably qualified, experienced, passionate, and hardworking individuals to apply for the above-mentioned position. The successful candidate will be employed on a fixed term contract of 12 months. Continuity of employment will be based on satisfactory performance and availability of funding.

 

Duties And Responsibilities

Reporting to the Finance and Administration Manager, the Grants Officer will be responsible for running the project funding, ensuring that all financial policies are complied with, and preparation of financial budgets and reports ensuring prudent use of the project resources.
Specifically working on the following, among other duties:
• Assist in formulating project budgets, monitoring and tracking expenditures in-line with the approved budget(s).
• Variance analysis, updating pipeline and communicating burn rate with management and respective officers.
• Sensitizing staff members on funding partner regulations and compliance.
• Plan and monitor the disbursement of funds to staff and stakeholders.
• Check supporting documents to ensure requests and expenditures are fully acquitted in compliance with the finance and procedures manual.
• Assist in payroll processing and ensure timeous submission of statutory deductions.
• Process bank reconciliations, assist in asset management and audit preparations.
• Assist in planning of administrative day to day duties and supervise subordinate staff.
• Perform any other duties as assigned.

Qualifications And Experience

The ideal candidate should:
• Possess a first degree in Accounting or Finance/.
• Pursuing professional studies (ACCA, ICAZ, CIMA, CPA) will be an added advantage.
• Have at least 3 years’ experience in a similar role in an NGO setup with experience in Financial Management.
• Experience in budgeting and donor financial reporting.
• Proficiency in computer skills, MS Office Skills and use of relevant accounting and payroll software packages.
• A team player with good communication, and conflict resolution skills. Possesses analytical skills and pays attention to detail and able to work under pressure with minimum supervision.
