JOB DESCRIPTION 

ACCOUNTABLE TO : ENVIRONMENT OFFICER

DUTIES
1. To produce monthly reports on natural resources activities and agriculture.
2. To establish, maintain and update a database for mines, fishing, and crafts permits and liaise with the Finance Department for billing.
3. To conduct quarterly district tours capturing mining activities on every mine and observation of other environmental related activities
4. To monitor and evaluate conservation works as guided by the ElAdocument.
5. To curtail illegal artisanal and small scale mining occurring in the district through proposing of strategies
6. To ensure that dip tanks, cattle sale pens and loading bays are maintained.
7. To arrange livestock buyers on market dates and facilitate collection of Council levies.
8. To establish a register of irrigation schemes in the district.
9. To maintain a register of agricultural produce, buyers and facilitate the collection of Council levies therefrom.
10. To advise management on solid waste management and disposal.
11. To assist in preparation of budgets for the Environment and Agriculture department.
12. To respond to human wildlife conflict and initiate problem animal control interventions.

QUALIFICATIONS

1. 5’0’Levels
2. A Degree from a recognized University, in Agriculture, Natural Resources Management, Mining & Geological Engineering, Ecological Sciences, or any other Environmental Science degree with at least an Upper Second (2.1) class.
3. At least 1 year of working experience
4. Experience in the public sector will be an added advantage
