Welthungerhilfe together with Community Technology Development Organization and Agricultural Partnerships Trust are implementing a program titled, Matabeleland Enhanced Livelihoods Agriculture and Nutrition Adaptation (MELANA) under the UNDP managed Zimbabwe Resilience Building Fund ZRBF001-2016. The overall objective of the project is to contribute to increased capacities of communities, to protect development gains and achieve improved well-being outcomes in the face of shocks and stresses. This will be achieved through improving the absorptive, adaptive, and transformative capacities of at-risk communities. The project is operational in Nkayi, Bubi, Umguza districts of Matabeleland North and Umzingwane district of Matabeleland South province;

Job description

Duties and Responsibilities – Conduct invivo trials on the efficacy of selected plants in the survey. Come up with a thesis on the efficacy of the selected plants on animal disease control: Produce simplified training material on the use of ethnovet medicine on animal disease control.

Qualifications and experience

BSc Degree in Animal Science, Biology, Veterinary Studies or a relevant discipline with a minimum of 2.1 degree class; Experience in training communities and the ability to convey complex scientific information into simple messages that are understood by a wide range of audience with varying levels of literacy; Sound knowledge of animal health in smallholder farming systems of Zimbabwe; Knowledge of Ndebele is an added advantage;
