Job Description
An opportunity has arisen for recent graduates to join Higherlife Foundation as a graduate intern. The incumbent will be tasked with providing administrative assistance in all Disaster Relief and Preparedness projects and other Global Health Program initiatives.
The incumbent will be reporting to the Head Disaster Relief
Key Responsibilities
- Support Disaster Relief and Preparedness Virtual and Physical trainings
- Assist the Head Disaster Relief in tracking emergencies and developing responses, and communicate within HLF and with key external stakeholders
- Support research on risk knowledge and analysis on DRR-related topics
- Rolling out DRR modules in communities through the Network of DRR Champions
Qualifications and Competencies
- Bachelor’s Degree in Disaster Management or equivalent
- Understanding of the project management cycle
- Understanding of the disaster management cycle i.e. the continuum between prevention, mitigation and preparedness, relief, recovery and rehabilitation within a development framework
- Understanding of international standards of best practice in Humanitarian response
- Good financial analysis skills and the ability to interpret and critique project budgets and track expenditure.
- Computer literate and competent on Microsoft Office and social media applications
- Clear and effective written and verbal English communication and the ability to clarify and articulate emergencies and response projects for various stakeholders
- A class 4 driver’s licence is an added advantage
