Job Summary
Geographic information systems (GIS) consultants are responsible for managing digital mapping data and performing analyses to answer geographical questions. The key focus for many GIS consultants is making maps for clients, deduced from analytical data.
Your work can be used in a variety of fields. Your GIS analysis can be used to find research and data by mapping the spread of disease (medical geography), plan for urban forestry, find suitable building locations and analyse sustainability.
GIS roles require a combination of technical, analytical, cartography and design skills.
Duties And Responsibilities
– Implement and conduct Trainings on GIS & RS
– Use of Drones to carry out projects in different industries
-Providing advice on how to use GIS technology to solve specific problems within an organization, such as improving service delivery or efficiency
-Advising clients on how to collect data for a specific project, including fieldwork such as surveys or observations
-Designing custom maps using computer software such as ArcGIS, AutoCAD, or MapInfo to visualize data such as population density or disease incidence
-Creating maps and charts using mapping software and data gathered from field surveys or other sources
-Consulting with clients regarding the purchase of hardware and software licenses, data acquisition and management, and system implementation and configuration
-Developing a detailed analysis of complex issues using geographic information systems (GIS) technology
Qualifications And Experience
A degree from a recognized university in Geographic Information Systems and Remote Sensing or Equivalent
Remote Pilot Certificate for Drones
2 years experience working with GIS
Knowledge of civil engineering, mapping surveying principles
Knowledge of ArcMap,QGIS, and any other ESRI products
