An established company in mining desires to expand its operations into gold mining in advance to contribute to the growth of the Zimbabwean economy through mining and gold refinery trading. The company has the following exciting opportunities that have arisen: Geologist
The Geologist is responsible for evaluating mine ore resource, reviewing stock reporting, field evaluations about the ore and providing geology technical support for the mining team regarding grade, thickness and mineralization of ore.
Duties and Responsibilities
•Handling, collection, and processing of all geologic samples, geologic mapping, petrography analysis, applied geology and geologic modelling.
•Using advanced professional knowledge in developing and updating mineral resource and resource models, and reviewing existing resources.
•The Mining Engineer to come up with work approaches, methods and policies to optimize performance in the acquisition, processing & industry relations with mine owners.
•Implements processes, policies, systems and practices by establishing standards to ensure the company meets its business objectives.
•Keeps up to date with related geology and incorporates this information into work assignments and approach.
•Works with technical management and operations staff to ensure that geological and sampling operations are efficient.
•Collects, researches and analyses information and samples.
•Prepares technical reports, shares technical inputs and recommendations on the grade for the industry and the company.
•Conducts geological and geochemical studies to assess the quality of mining claims.
•Analyses production data to identify trends and optimize productivity.
•Works with other departments to ensure efficient use of resources, compliance with safety and within budget.
•Ensures compliance with all environmental, health and safety regulations.
•Assists in developing in-mine exploration and delineation drilling programs.
•Identifies key performance measures for the team; monitors, and reports on the achievement of targets and reviews strategies as needed.
Qualifications and Experience
•Geology degree or closely related degree, required
•Valid Driver’s License (required, where applicable)
•At least 3 to 5 years of mining experience preferred.
•Work in mining or similar organizations.
Specialized Skills
•Rock crushers, pulverizers, handheld XRF Preferred
•Microsoft Office Suite
•Petrographic microscope
•Field mapping
