JOB DESCRIPTION
RioZim Ltd, a wholly owned Zimbabwean Company with mining and related operations in several parts of Zimbabwe, invites applications from suitably qualified and experienced individuals to fill in a vacancy at one of our various operations within the Group in the following discipline GEOLOGICAL TECHNICIAN.
The successful applicant will be based at Renco Mine and his major Key Performance Indicator is to plan and execute exploration programmes for a section of the mine with a view to extending the life of the mine and to ensure the quality of the ore developed is within the parameters of the quality determined from time to time. The applicant will also undertake any such tasks, within the scope of their expertise, as may be directed by the Projects Development Superintendent inclusive of, but not limited to, the following:
Main Responsibilities:
- Plan for and recommend mining of new/priority development ends to achieve the mine’s development plan.
- Determine drilling platforms for underground targets and issue drilling layouts.
- Monitor drilling performances in the section to achieve set productivity and cost targets.
- Enforce compliance with company’s legal HSE policies and regulations.
- Coordinates underground sampling and monitors quality for grade control.
- Enforce and ensure adherence to ground control standards.
- Analyses sectional geological information and advises in mine planning.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Diploma in Geological Sciences or equivalent.
- Two (2) years’ experience or post graduate traineeship.
- Good interpersonal relations and report writing.
- Good computer skills.
- Knowledge of HSE management systems is mandatory.
