Vacancy : General Manager

This is a senior position reporting to the Operations Director  of the Zimbabwe Power Company . The key  challenge in this  position is the  ability  to harness the material , financial and human resources in order to produce reliable maximum electricity output  levels at Kariba South Power Station .This will require the effective  utilization  of all the inputs , maintaining the plant and creating  a work  environment that will result in maximum manpower effectiveness

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Direct , plans and  controls in the Power Station operations and objectives in line with corporate  objectives
• Establishes and promote policies and plans for enhancing reliable energy delivery  by the Power station
• Prepares guidelines for the development  of operations and maintenance  philosophies
• Complies  the capital  expenditure  budget  for the  Power  Station
• Develops guidelines for the adoption  of appropriate  Integrated  management system (ISO 9001:2015, ISO 45001:2018, ISO 14001:2015
• Directs  the development  of new  suppliers with favorable terms as well as providing guidelines for cost-effective procurement
• Interacts with ZPC and ZETDC management  on the establishment of production targets  , station operations  and operation ofPower Purchase Agreement
• Plans  and implements  power  generation  improvement  projects
• Develops systems  for a sustainable ,harmonious industrial relations climate  at the Station
• Coordinates projects   by approving delivery construction of equipment at site , commissioning procedures and management requirements
• Draws and implements and annual risk management programs in conjunction with the Audit /Risk Manager and the Operations Director
• Defines performance standards  requirements and standards for all departments at the station so as to ensure achievement of station objectives

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

• A degree in mechanical /electrical engineering or equivalent
• A post graduate qualification  such as an MBL/MBA or  equivalent
• At least 10 years post graduate working experience in a heavy plant environment with a minimum of 8 years at senior management level
• Valid  full  membership of a recognized professional engineering  institution eg ECZ/ZIE
