Garment Construction and Design Officer (1 Post)
Qualifications
- The ideal candidate should possess a National Diploma in Industrial Clothing Design and Construction or related field from a recognised institution.
- A Higher National Diploma in Fashion or Textile Design or related field from a recognised institution would be an added advantage.
Experience and Qualities
- At least one (1) year post qualification experience in textiles and garment construction.
- Be able to work under tight deadlines.
- Have a keen interest in fashion and textiles.
- Highly organised with good prioritisation skills.
- Confident and clear communication skills; both verbal and written.
- The ability to think creatively and deliver impressive concepts.
- Strong working knowledge of various fabrics and embroidery threads.
- Proficiency in using different types of sewing machines.
- Exceptional customer service skills.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Producing a pattern, either by hand or using computer aided design.
- Creating garments according to design specifications and preferences.
- Providing proper bills to the clients for the creation of garments.
- Staying up to date with the various garment design ideas and latest trends.
- Conducting market research to identify new trends, fabrics and techniques, and seeking design inspiration.
