Chevron Tobacco Company: Floor Supervisor (seasonal contract 6 months). The Tobacco Contract Floor Supervisor take full operational ownership of the tobacco contract floor. This is a hands-on supervisory role focused on floor organisation, bale movement control, and end-to-end dispatch and receiving processes. The successful candidate will be accountable for maintaining order, accuracy, and efficiency across all floor activities, ensuring compliance with company procedures and industry standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee and coordinate daily contract floor operations, ensuring the floor is well organised, clean, and fit for purpose always.
- Supervise the booking, receiving, sorting, laying, stacking, movement, and dispatch of tobacco bales, ensuring correct identification, grading references, and documentation.
- Ensure accurate reconciliation of received and dispatched bales against delivery notes.
- Allocate duties to floor staff, monitoring productivity, discipline, and adherence to safety standards.
- Enforce standard operating procedures (SOPs) relating to handling, storage, and movement of tobacco.
- Liaise with transporters, security, and internal departments to ensure smooth dispatch and receiving workflows.
- Identify operational bottlenecks and implement practical, on-the-ground solutions to improve turnaround times.
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, and tobacco industry regulations applicable in Zimbabwe.
- Prepare and submit daily operational reports on floor activities, discrepancies, and incidents.
Requirements
- Degree in Operations Management, Logistics, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in tobacco handling, warehouse supervision, or contract floor operations.
- Strong working knowledge of tobacco bale handling and dispatch processes.
- Proven ability to supervise teams in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
- High level of attention to detail and recordkeeping discipline.
- Ability to work long hours during peak tobacco season, including weekends when required.
