VACANCY
JOB PURPOSE
Responsible for planning, directing, managing, coordinating, availing, maintenance, registering, licensing and tracking of refuse collection trucks, plant and equipment for the Division.
KEY RESULT AREAS
* Producing vehicle and plant maintenance schedule to ensure proper functionality and availability of fleet.
* Issuing updates to vehicle users on the next date of service, generating and processing vehicle maintenance and repair Order for works and requisitions.
* Deploying vehicles to respective drivers for service delivery.
* Receiving reports of vehicle accidents, processing motor vehicle claims and follow up on police reports and third party claims.
* Engaging with the police, EMA and VID on the clearing of impounded vehicles.
* Identifying vehicles due for disposal using the standard checklist
* Reporting on unserviceable vehicles and recommending disposal
* Supervising proper cleaning of vehicles, issuance of fuel and lubricants and reconciliation of issues against stock levels.
* Liaising the panel beaters, workshops and Procurement Unit on vehicle repairs. Committee and representing the Department as a witness in disciplinary hearings.
* Referring newly appointed drivers for Municipal Vehicles Driving Authority testing.
* Monitoring tracking of vehicle movements and check on proper usage and driving habits
* Checking on the correctness of odometer readings and rates on private vehicles locomotive claims before forwarding the claims to the Finance Department for payment.
* Supervising subordinates and managing their performance.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
* Degree in Transport & Logistics or equivalent
* Qualification in Motor Mechanics, Diesel Plant Fitting or Auto Electrics is an added advantage.
* Clean Class 2 Driver’s Licence is a must.
* 3 years’ relevant experience
