Lafarge Cement Zimbabwe is looking for a FITTER to join the Dry Mortars Operations team and play a pivotal role in our business:
What the job entails:
• Carries out assigned dunes in accordance to the applicable Plant Operating Model and the Maintenance Management System.
• Carries out conveyor belt maintenance, skirt and scraper replacement (adjustment) and v-belt installation & alignment.
• Removes worn out liners and fits new ones in line with Execution Job Plans to be provided by the Mechanical Supervisor.
• Uses oxy-acetylene and arc welding equipment as per site procedures and guidelines from original equipment manufacturers.
• Carries out basic welding.
• Carries out pulley alignment.
• Completes pre-assemblies in the Mechanical Workshop in line with the daily loading plans issued by the Mechanical Supervisor.
• Attends to all Plant breakdowns and call outs as directed by Mechanical Supervisor.
• Carries out pipe work including the necessary fitting.
• Carries out ongoing maintenance on the screens in various sections of the Plant.
• Performs all types of bench work i.e. use of taps& dies, thread cutting.
• Adjusts crusher gaps as directed by the Mechanical Supervisor.
• Carries out basic lubrication tasks under guidance of the Mechanical Supervisor.
• Fills in the Job cards at the end of each task to provide feedback on actual duration, methodology, spares use, challenges etc. to allow for continual improvement of the planning and execution cycle.
• Returns to stores all spares and or consumables not used during execution of works on site.
• Remits all job packs to the Mechanical Supervisor for filing and safe keeping.
• Provides on the Job coaching and training to Apprentices and other trainees as required by the line Manager.
• Attends all scheduled training session in line with BU communication and or actions off the approved IDP.
• Completes all actions identified on the IDP with support of the line Manager.
• Performs standby duties as assigned by line Manager and the standby roaster.
• Performs any other duties which may be assigned to him/her by line Manager from time to time.
Position requirements:
• Fitter and Turner, trade tested.
• O’ level
• 5 years’ experience as a Fitter
• Basic understanding of the Factories and Works Act
• Good interpersonal skill
• Self-driven
• Team Player
