Key Responsibilities
- Disassembles and (re)assembles equipment and machinery.
- Repairs equipment and machinery.
- Machines, fabricates, and welds machinery and equipment to specified fits and tolerances.
- Ensure a safe working environment and practices in line with the Factories and Work Act.
- Ensure proper housekeeping.
- Perform administrative duties – compile weekly and monthly reports and submit them to the director of engineering services; initiate purchase requisitions and assist in preparing the council’s annual budget.
- Supervises and assigns tasks to subordinates, including student attaches.
Requirements
- Apprenticeship-trained in Fitting and Turning with 3 years of post-qualification experience OR Trade-tested Skilled Worker Class 1 in Fitting and Turning with 5 years of post-qualification experience.
- National craft certificate in Fitting and Turning.
- Trade-tested Skilled Worker Class 1 in Fitting and Turning.
- 5 O-Levels including English, Maths, and Science.
- Clean and valid Class 4 OR 2 driver’s licence.
- Must be 35 years old or below.
