Fitter and Turner (Class 1)
Role Overview
The incumbent will be responsible for the overall maintenance and repairs of the mechanical plant and equipment to ensure that plant availability and utilisation are within budget
Responsibilities
- Carrying out scheduled maintenance and ensuring adherence to the planned maintenance schedule
- Trouble shooting and repairing mechanical plant and equipment
- Machining of mechanical components
- Supervision of assistants and ensuring compliance to safety regulations and procedures
- Assisting in the procurement of mechanical spares and components
REQUIREMENTS
- National Certificate or Diploma in Machine-Shop Engineering
- Class 1 Machine shop Journeyman Certificate
- Apprenticeship training is an added advantage
- 3 years post training experience
- Mining and / or quarry industry experience is required
- Experience working with crushers and conveyor systems
- Knowledge of safety, health and environmental systems is required
