Duties And Responsibilities
- Assume full management responsibility for all Financial Services Department functions, programs and operations
- Direct financial planning and strategy
- Analyse and report on financial performance
- Develop and implement accounting policies
- Manage, forecast comprehensive budgets
- Review Council budgets
- Assess, manage and minimise risk
- Formulate and implement departmental goals, objectives and priorities
- Analyse complex financial data and managing internal controls
- Evaluate departmental methods and procedures
- Advise on long term business and financial planning
- Attend Council Committees and Council Meetings
- Submit relevant reports to Council Committees and Council
Qualifications And Experience
- A Degree in Accounting or Finance
- A post graduate degree such as MBA or equivalent
- Professional qualification such as:
- Institute of Municipal Finance Officers (IMFO)
- Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA)
- Institute of Chartered Secretaries & Administrators (CIS)
- Institute of Chartered Public Finance Accounts (CIPFA)
- Clean Class 4 driver’s licence
- Valid membership of professional body
- At least (10) ten years experience in the relevant field at senior SKILLS level
- he post calls for a Financial Director who will lead with confidence and inspire loyalty
- Experience within a local authority or similar organisation will be an added advantage
