VACANCY
FINANCIAL ACCOUNTANT
The Zimbabwe National Water Authority (ZINWA) is inviting applications from suitably qualified, mature, honest, and substantially experienced persons for appointment to a challenging position that has arisen within the Organisation. The successful applicant will be based at Head Office in Harare and will report directly to the Finance Manager.
RESPONSIBILITIES
i. Prepare accurate quarterly, half-yearly, and annual financial Statements.
ii. Compile inputs, prepare, and consolidate the Authority’s annual budget.
iii. Prepare and submit statutory returns (including VAT, PAYE, Withholding Tax, and NSSA) accurately and within stipulated ZIMRA deadlines.
iv. Prepare the Authority’s Annual Report, Ensuring compliance with IFRS and statutory requirements, and timely submission to stakeholders.
v. Maintain and safeguard the Authority’s assets through accurate record-keeping, periodic verification, and compliance with IFRS, the Public Finance Management Act (PFMA), and ZINWA policies.
vi. Oversee day-to-day finance activities, ensuring effective transaction processes, compliance with policies, and timely financial reporting.
vii. Address internal and external audit requirements by preparing reconciliations, providing supporting documentation, and implementing corrective actions.
viii. Supervise, mentor, and appraise finance staff or enhance performance, ensure compliance, and support continuous professional development.
ix. Liaise with service providers, regulators, and other stakeholders on financial and compliance matters.
PERSON SPECIFICATIONS
I. A Degree in Accounting, Finance, or equivalent.
II. CA(Z), CIS, ACCA, CIMA, or subsequent professional qualifications an added advantage.
III. At least 5 years’ experience in accounting or financial management, preferably in a public sector or utility organisation.
IV. Strong knowledge of IFRS, the Public Finance Management Act, and ZINWA statutory requirements.
V. Good knowledge of ERP systems and MS office applications.
VI. Excellent communication, supervisory, and interpersonal skills.
VII. High level of integrity, professionalism, and attention to Detail.
